Pretty Place Wedding | Sarah + Ryan

Sarah and Ryan had reached out to me about photographing their Pretty Place wedding and after my first call with them I knew this was a couple I wanted the opportunity to tell their story! We had a FaceTime call and talked about them, their relationship, hobbies and their vision for the wedding day, including videography! Sarah loves to hike and be outdoors in the mountains, which quickly got Ryan on board with her love for nature! Ryan proposed to Sarah after a long Christmas day filled with lots of activities! After they got home Ryan took Sarah on a walk down the street that was filled with Christmas lights and saved the best gift for last! A ring!

Sarah and Ryan started their day at a cabin AirBnb where they got ready with their family and two sons. Peter, myself and my team pulled up to the cabin around 6:30am when it was still dark! As the sun began to rise over the mountains, casting a warm golden glow on the landscape, Sarah and Ryan prepared themselves for a day that would forever be etched in their memories. It was an intimate afternoon wedding, filled with love and joy, and I had the privilege of capturing it all!

After a first look with dad and letters to each other we drove to Pretty Place Chapel to meet the rest of their extended family to witness these two get married! God couldn’t have blessed them with more of a perfect day! The weather was absolutely beautiful! It was sunny with just a little bit of wind on a cool fall day in October. After the ceremony we blocked off some time to take some family photos with their two sons and of course some bride and groom portraits of them! After, we headed down the mountain and met at a local park to have lunch under the pavilion. Huge thanks to Larkin’s Catering for providing a delicious spread!

Sarah + Ryan kept it simple and relaxed but still included some of the traditional reception events! They cut their cake, danced with their parents and enjoyed a first dance as a married couple. Now for the non-traditional side — Sarah + Ryan wanted to go play on the playground and capture some fun pictures of them being kids! I loved this and had so much fun the entire day!

For me, being a photographer is about more than just taking beautiful pictures. It’s about encapsulating the essence of a couple’s love story, and capturing the emotions and moments that make their day truly unique. I strive to create earthy, authentic photos that reflect the adventurous spirit of couples in love. From intimate moments to joyous celebrations, I am honored to be a witness to the journey of love.

So, as I reflect on Sarah and Ryan’s intimate afternoon wedding at Pretty Place, I am reminded of the growth I have experienced as a photographer. Each wedding is a new opportunity to explore the deeper meaning and emotions behind the photography experience. I am constantly evolving, honing my craft, and seeking to capture the essence of love in its rawest form.

To Sarah and Ryan, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day. Your love story is a testament to the power of adventure, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a witness to it. May your journey together be filled with countless moments of joy, love, and laughter.
